Pet Emergency? Read no further and call us right away!
Hello again! I was able to speak to a representative with at the state veterinarian's office and although they do not have much more information than what has been circulating, it does appear that the Lepto positive pets are concentrated in northern Arizona and the northern part of the east valley (Scottsdale and Fountain Hills area). They do not know which serovars (strains) of Lepto these dogs have contracted. They are, however, recommending that the vaccine be given to any dog that visits areas with shared water sources, such as a dog park or a kennel facility.
We have ordered the stand-alone 4-way Leptospira vaccine and it should arrive tomorrow. It is a 2 vaccine series, 3 weeks apart, and must be boostered yearly to provide immunity. If your dog has had an exam in the past 6 months, we will administer the vaccine as a technician appointment, otherwise a physical exam will be required. The 3 week booster will be done as a technician appointment. Please call us if you would like to schedule an appointment to get this vaccine. 480-964-9601
Thank you for your patience,
